TAD's and Dental Implants

TAD is an abbreviation for Temporary Anchorage Device. Sometimes Dr. Gibson will need to use a TAD or dental implant to help move your teeth into the correct position.

Many times Dr. Gibson will place the TAD or implant, but other times Dr. Gibson will ask you to have the procedure performed by another dentist who specializes in implants and TAD's.

When patients are missing a tooth, often Dr. Gibson will create the correct amount of space for that tooth to be replaced. Often, a dental implant with a crown attached to it is the best choice for replacing missing teeth.

Dental implants are becoming more popular in today's dental society for a number of reasons. Implants are utilized to offer patients a foundation for new restorative teeth where natural teeth are missing or have been extracted. The implant offers the patient the opportunity to regain normal function of the tooth without being forced to resort to a bridge or a denture.
